Wednesday Inspiration - Feb. 11, 2009
WEDNESDAY Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. --1 Corinthians 13:4-5 New International Version
THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE...Love does not focus on me, but on others. Each of these qualities of love is based upon an affectionate, compassionate, and forgiving attitude that regards others of value and not just self. No wonder the old saying goes "The middle of sIn is a big I!"
MY PRAYER...Holy God and Sacrificial Father, teach me to notice others and value them just as you do. I know you loved me when I was not lovable, and redeemed me when I was not worthy. Help me to take my eyes off myself and see others as you see them. Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

Wow, it's hump day already. This week I've posted the daily verse information from Crosswalk.com's weekly verse email. I love receiving those verses each week along with the thought and prayer. Today's verse is one that is especially special to me.
When I was younger I believed I was a loving person but the older I get the more I realize, without God's work and love in my life I would not know the meaning of true love. I think we are basically selfish, at least I know I am. It is only through God's grace at work in my life that I can love and be loved. Just as the thought indicates above, when I concentrate on myself, I don't show love. I need to concentrate on others to give love, show love and allow love to operate in my life. This is an area in which I fail miserably most of the time. So today, my prayer to the Lord is below:
Father,
Thank you for your Love that is there for the taking. You extend your hand to me and make the first move...in fact made that move long before I knew anything about you. Please help me focus on others today, instead of myself. Help me to allow your love to show through my life and let me concentrate on the other people in my life, to hear them, care for them and show them love.
In Jesus' precious name I pray,
Amen.
