Obedience
Ok, I admit it, this one is hard for me sometimes. I'm willful, stubborn and want things my way...does that constitute pride, yup, I'm sure it does. So there you go, my confession today is that I'm full of pride...unfortunately, I really have nothing to be proud about.
In Deuteronomy 8:1-2 God reminds His people to obey Him and to remember the things He has done for them.
"Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land and the LORD swore to give your ancestors. Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would really obey his commands."
Wow, although this was originally a message to God's chosen people Israel, the lessons still apply today to those called to Him. I must be the one to obey. I'm not sure of the land He is giving me to occupy but I know I must obey.
I'm living though the years as He leds me through the wilderness. My poor choices have led to this wilderness but He is there, all I have to do is listen and see His guiding hand.
Heavenly Father,
Please forgive me and help me to surrender my pride. Help me to understand, obedience is what you desire, obedience and humility. Please Lord, help me to put away my pride, to stand humbly before you and surrender my will to Yours. In Your word you tell us "it is not enough for me to humble myself for one day." (Isaiah 58:5) Please help me to be consistently humble in all that I do, with no false humlity, which is really just pride, but true humility of spirit and character. Father, help me to walk in humility and obedience that I will choose to do your will. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.
