Monday Inspiration - Feb 9, 2009

I get weekly verses from Crosswalk.com so I thought I would put them here and add my own thoughts and prayers. I'll put their info in italics and mine in regular type.

MONDAY
We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
2 Thessalonians 1:3New International Version

THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE..."Increase my faith, O Lord." "Increase my strength." "Increase my wisdom." We often pray for these things, but when is the last time you thanked God for your love increasing? Can you think of anything more exciting to say about your church than "The love every one of you has for each other is increasing!" Lets pray and act to make it so!

It's been a while since I've prayed to thank God for the love in my life, yet I have been blessed. My mother, daughter, father, step-mother and friends are there for me and love me. Being thankful for that love and support is something I should express and show more often.

PRAYER...Holy God, may your love so fill us that I share it with others who call on your name. May this love grow and increase in my life so others may readily see its benefits and recognize that it is a direct response to your lavish love shared with me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

My prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for placing people in my life who love me and stick with me even when I'm not that loveable. Thank you for your love. In the name of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Civil Laws

My Daily Walk Bible devotion today is still in Deuteronomy, not exactly my favorite book but you know how God is, He puts us where we need to be. I got a ticket today, not for speeding. I285 was slammed so I got off at Buford and while at the traffic light I noticed the backup on the interstate seemed to break loose so decided to just jump right back on...well guess what...you can't do that, seems you can only turn right or left and not go straight. The police stopped over 10 cars and trucks when they stopped me. I'm not sure how many others got a ticket but it seemed like a lot. I've got to be honest, I was not a happy camper but, then I open my Bible and there it is, talking about civil laws and why they exist. And even though I didn't see the sign, the law is probably to prevent accidents and protect people. It's just too bad I need the baseball bat approach instead of an easier way to learn my lessons.

Stressed and Overwhelmed

I'm willing to bet most of us are under some level of stress right now, and maybe feeling overwhelmed, especially with everything that is going on in 2020. The pandemic created an enormous level of stress, the potential of getting sick and possibly dying, the restriction of where we can go and when, the limiting of seeing those not in our own households, and for some, the loss of a job or being laid off, even if temporarily. Add to that the civil unrest and the upcoming presidential election it is not unexpected that most of us are feeling stressed and overwhelmed. God tells us to rest in Him when we are stressed, but sometimes, I'm challenged to lean on Him, especially in times like these.  I look at the lack of leadership we have right now in the White House, and in the Senate and my stress level only increases. Thursday Inspiration - Feb. 12, 2009

THURSDAY Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. --1 Corinthians 13:6-7New International Version THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE...Always love - pretty tall order and pretty tough stuff. Only God is "always." But then Christians are fueled to a always love through the Holy Spirit! Check out the promised source of "always" love in Romans 5:5. MY PRAYER...Sweet and Glorious God on High, I humble myself before you, recognizing your boundless power to love, the incredible need for love in the lives of those around me, and my limited ability to love.
